RIBA CPD approval for AIS acoustic presentation

28 July 2011

The AIS presentation 'A Guide to Office Acoustics' has received RIBA CPD core curriculum approval.

Based on the AIS publication of the same name, the CPD key learning points include some important facts that are particularly useful to anyone involved in fit out, such as:
• Understanding flanking sound
• Laboratory tests vs onsite
• How background noise can be used to save money in the specification process
• How to provide absorption in reverberant spaces
Commenting on the Acoustic Guide AIS technical manager Joe Cilia said: ‘The publication and the CPD presentation support each other. We previewed the presentation at Clerkenwell Design Week and the comments we received were extremely positive. The audience, which comprised architects, acousticians and contractors were particularimpressed with practicalexamples demonstrating the difference between absorption and insulation.’

A CPD presentation based on the guide is currently being developed and it is hoped this will receive RIBA CPD approval sometime in June.   AIS CPD’s can be booked by emailing AIS training manager jeremy-clayton@ais-interiors.org.uk
